2014 Maud Menten New Principal Investigator Prize

On behalf of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research-Institute of Genetics (CIHR-IG), I am pleased to announce the 2014 Maud Menten New Principal Investigator Prize recipients and finalists, a prize that recognizes and supports the research excellence of Canadian New Investigators working within CIHR-IG’s mandate.

CIHR-IG established the award to honour Dr. Menten whose outstanding career as a biomedical scientist led to many achievements including important co-discoveries relating to blood sugar, haemoglobin and kidney functions.

Recipients:

· Biomedical Research: Dr. Éric Lécuyer (Institut de Recherches Cliniques de Montréal)

· Clinical Research: Dr. Philippe Campeau (Centre de Recherche du CHU Sainte-Justine)

Finalists:

· Biomedical Research: Dr. Gilles Hickson (Centre de Recherche du CHU Sainte-Justine) & Dr. Hongshen Ma (University of British Columbia)

· Clinical Research: Dr. Mario Masellis (Sunnybrook Research Institute) & Dr. Eva Szabo (McMaster University)
